The N.Z. Bowlers.
Mlebourne, April 7. In their first match the New Zea. land bowlers beat the Victorians by 123 to 105. Morrison Woods, Gravell, Smith, V--30; Thompson, Bastings, Johnston, Allnut, N.Z., 18. The score was level on the fourth end. At the twenty-fourth end the score was 18 —24, and Smith added six on the last end. Streiff, Shaw, Scoullard, Mason, V. 27; Neave, Maynard, Coltman, Goldstein, N.Z., 28.
The Victorians led by five at the ninth end, but then failed to score for six ends, when the score was 14 —22, the play being even on both sides to the end.
Oliver, Tricket, Wright, Waxman, V. 11; Wallace, Manning, Findlay, Hain, N.Z., 34. » -. The latter beat Waxman, one of the Victorian champions, all along the line. The Victorians had not scored up to the fifth end. The scores at the twenty-first end were 7—33. Jamieson, Collins, Stephens, Wood, V. 23; Stubberfield, Bunting, Waddel, Bishop, N.Z., 25. The later led by eight at the eleventh end, and then only scored one for nine ende, when the game was level. Jackson, Martin, Grut, Harrison, V. 14; Chegwin, Scoullar, Smith, Bentley, N.Z., 18. Hain's game against Waxman was the centre of attraction. His men played consistently. Goldstein's game provided an exciting finish. The teams tied with the ast end to go, and the Victorians placed a fine shot behind the kitty, and won the game. Mr Hain is pleased with the greens, which suit the New Zealanders, and the arrangements are satisfactory. Mr Thomas is still in the hospital, and hi 3 condition is serious. ..
