MANAWATU RACING CLUB'S MEETING.
By Telegraph. —Press Association. Palmerston North, Last Night. The first days' races of the Manawatu club's autumn meeting were held today in fine weather. Results are as appended: Linton Hack Hurdles: Showman 1, Commander 2, Reservoir 3. Scratched: Claremont, Splendid Idea. Aorangi was winning ea.sily, when he dislodged his rider at the last fence. Showman won easily. Karere Hack Welter: Ikon 1, Letherin 2, Dane 3. Scratched: Waikaraka, Truganini, Crucinella. Won comfortably. Telegraph Stakes: Gold Thread 1, Czarina 2, Contender 3. Scratched: Kitchenmaid, Soultlfne, Sister Anne. Won all the way easily by two lengths. Manawatu Stakes: Aborigine 1, Elysium 2, Husbandman 3. Scratched: Golden Slipper. Aborigine practically led all the way, eventually winning very easily by six lengths. Time 1.14 2-5. Hokowhitu Hurdles: Gold Dust 1, Claremont 2, Killarney 3. Also started: Prospector, Pantaloon, Oryx. A good race. Won by a head. Pan-: taloon fell and broke his hind leg. Longburn Handicap: Waipaku 1, Tangimoana 2, King Billy 3. Scratched: Signor, and Tupara. Time 1.531. Champion Hack Plate: Woodhen 1, Truganini 2, Ikon 3. Won easily. Time 1.32. Taikorea Welter: Bourrasque 1; Moscow 2, San Farnicsco 3. Won by two lengths. The sum of £9191 was passed through the machines, as against £10,644 on the corresponding day last year. There were 10 bookmakers licensed at £2O and 13 at £lO.
