Accidents and Fatalities.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Tauranga, Last Night. .mi accident occurred on the Kaimai Estate on Saturday, by which a man named Jules Percy Murray lost his life. Deceased was working with Mr A. B. Stubbing's survey party, in charge of- Mr J. R. Page, and was engaged in clearing the branches of a tree on the lines, when a branch which he was cutting split, and struck him a violent blow on the forehead, knocking him into a creek, about 12ft below. Mr Page, who witnessed the accident, rescued Murray from the water, and seeing that he was seriously injured sent word into town. The injured man was carried out on an improvised stretcher, being met later by Mr Stubbings and Dr. Frazer Hunt. An examination by the latter revealed the fact that the patient was suffering from laceration of the brain, and on being brought into town deceased lingered until four o'clock on Sunday morning, when he died, without having regained consciousness. An inquest was held this morning, a verdict of accidental death being returned. Deceased leaves a widow and seven children,the eldest of whom is 15 years of age. Wellington, Last Night. Joseph Ivan Graham, aged 19, was found drowned in a well on his mothers' farm at Fitzherbert. There was 10ft of water in the well. At the inquest a verdict of "Accidental death by drowning in a well" was returned.
