WAIKATO CENTRAL A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the Executive Committee of this Association was held in the Farmer's Club room at Cambridge yesterday (Friday) afternoon, the President (Mr J. Fißber) being in the chair. New Membees.—The following were elected members :—Messrs H. W. Andrews, E. W. Beere, R. Btockelsby, M. Casey, J. Fitzgerald, N. Farnall, F. J. Gane, C- Hunter, J. Kinedon, VV. McKee, J. McMillan, W. McMillan, H. Pike, W. Russell, J. Russell, H. Russell, M. Russell, J. G. Scott, R. Speake, R. Freeman, and D. McNaughton. The Place of Meeting.—The Trustees of the Waikato Farmers' Club offered the use of their room for the meetings of the Association, at the cost of cleaning same.—The offer was accepted with thanks. Donation.—Messrs Ambury, English and Co. forwarded a donation of £5, together with expressions of goodwill towards the Society. —A vote of thanks was accorded the firm. Kindred Associations—lt was decided to admit members of kindred Associations to full privileges of this Association on payment of half the ordinary fee. Yards Committee The following gentlemen were appointed to prepare plans and estimates for the cattle and cheep yards : Messrs J. Fisher, E. Allen, J. Taylor, R. Reynolds, M. Butler, C. C. Buckland, and J. Allwill. They will arrange for the supply of timber from Messrs Ellis and Burnand and the Moun tain Rimu Timber Company, both these firms having promised donations. Carriage of Cattle on RAiLWAys.— The Auckland Agricultural Association wrote that they were taking steps to get the loading and unloading of stock on the railways improved.—The Chairman thought the local Association should also move in the matter. —Mr Reynolds said since the Auckland Association had moved in the matter cattle had arrived up to time, which had not previously been the case. He spoke of one case in which some cattle from Cambridge were 17 hours in the trucks before they reached their destination. The defect appeared to be now remedied, but they must see there was not a rulai.se. He thought some of the railway officials were ignorant of the damage done to stock by rough handling, and he then bore testimony to the careful manner in which shunting was done at the Cambridge station, Baying the officials at that station deserved to be publicly thanked. —Mr Allen said most of the damage was done at Frankton, and Mr Reynolds interjected : ' At Mercer and Penrose as well.'—The Auckland Association was thanked for the action it bad taken. The Showground.—Mr Reynolds said the lion's share of improving the showground had fallen upon Mr James Taylor, but being a busy man be had asked to be relieved of some of the work, and he (Mr Reynolds) had offered to assist with the fencing. He then gave a resume of what was being done in the matter of planting trees, etc., round and on the ground, which was being done under the supervic sion of Thos. Wells.—The Chairman spoke in the highest terms of the good work done by Messrs Taylor, Reynolds and Wells, and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded then?. The whole matter of planting was relegated to these gentlemen, with power to act. Accounts.—Accounts amounting to £5 15s were passed for payment.
