HAMILTON BOWLING GREEN.

A MEETING was held last night in the Hamilton Hotel to consider the formation of a Bowling Club. Mr Bond took the chair and explained that ho had been iu communication with those who have the management of the late Mr W. Taylor’s affairs, and submitted a tentative proposal to pay £5 per annum as rent and take over the plant at cost price (mowing machine and roller). After some desultory conversation, Messrs B nd, Manning and Varney were appointed a committee to make anangements with Mrs Taylor, the r-mt not to exceed £5 per annum. The meeting was unanimous in the opinion that the green shou d only be rented from year to year, as it was desirable that there should be a public green. The subscription was fixed at £1 Is per annum, and about 20 gave in their names as intending members. It was understood that steps would be taken immediately to prepare a green on Hillsboro’ Terrace. The meeting elected the following officers President, Dr. Brewis : vicePres'dents, Messrs IV. A. Graham and K. Brookfield ; Secretary, Mr J. Varney. A general meeting will be held on Monday, when the committee will report and submit the rules to constitute the club for approval.
