Rowing Club.— The Club opined the season on Wednesday last with a series of trial pairs for trophies presented by Mr A. Kay and Mrs Thomas Paterson, Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies. Some of the races were very close. The following are the results : First Round : A. Lookie aud K. Rennie heat H. Henderson and W. Couradi; A Kay and A. McKeovvn heat S, Saulbrey and J. Doorley, C. Gillander and C. Spragg beat G. Henderson audJG. Paynter; E. Rathborne end J. Matideno dead-heat with V. Gillander and A. Lovell; in the row-off Gillander’s crew won. Second Round: Lockie’s crew beat Myles’, Kay’s crew heat C. Gillau der’s. Semi-final: J.ockie’s crew beat Kay's. Final ; Lockie’s crew beat V, Gitlander’e. Ladies’ Pairs: Misses Fuller hi at Misses L. Kay and F. Gillander ; Misses N. Paterson and Gillander beat Misses J. Kellow and N. Kay. In the final Misses Fuller met Misses N. Paterson and Gillander, the lat'ercrew winning after a very close race. Mr M. Jones acted as judge during the afternoon, and gave every satisfaction. The Club held a very enjoyable dance during the evening, when a large crowd assrmbled, the funds being considerably augmented thereby. Obituary.— l have to record the death of Mr M. O’Connor’s hoy, who died on Tuesday night Much sympathy is expiessed here on all sides for the parents, to which your own correspondent adds his.
