Alter a long by debate the House went into Committee to consider the mail proposals. A motion to strike out the paragraph authorising the Government to enter into a contract with Spreckela for the remainder of the 'Frisco service was lost by 35 to 28. Mr Millar then moved: That the specified term (three years) be struck out This was carried by 3fi to 28. Mr Millar then moved that the term of the contract be for one year only. This was carried by 33 to 30,
