PUKEKURA ROAD BOARD.
o A. meeting of this Board was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Cambridge, on Satur day. There were present : —Messrs R. Fuller (Chairman), W. Vesper, J. Gane, and W. White
Wax Vam.ev.—Mr C. W. Percy wrote that he had disposed of this fa l in •o Mr Timothy Pino, of Chime, FonlcP, Wanganui, as from the 15th of December lux', ami he wished hts name removed from the valuation roll. Caiu’Ul'Xl-Stkeet, — Mr W. _ Rout wrote tugee.-ling some repairs in the form of rounding up in Campbell-sireet, and an inspecM n of tie work that was in progress, which was on-s-iti'factoiy.—Th i Chairman and Mr Whi'o wcie deputed to inspect the work and pass it before paying the account.
Messrs Gripe's Gift.—The Clerk reported that the deed) of the crave p t, given to the Board hy Messrs Grice, has been received from Messrs Heskclh ami Ri hmond, and the tram-action was now' complete. —The Chairman said the di trict was deeply indebted to Mr Gi ice for his handsome gift. Noxious Weeds.-- Notice was received that the second schedule of this Act had been duly gazetted as having hecii adopted by the Board.—ln ibis instance the plants were enumerated, so the Board cannot he saddled with the absurd Order in Council making the second schedule include docks, thistles, etc.
Road Works.- Tie Chairman said they should make up their minds what road works they intended doing during the next ft w months. He should like the opinion of the members, but at the same he must ask them to be as economical as possible. m— Mr \\ bite at oucc piij forth the claims of trie township of Cambridge West ; especially mentioning Tennyson street.—After a short discussion the Chairman and Mr White were asked to view the streets and report at next meeting what is required. —Mr Gane ai ked to have Nonish’a and Freeman’s road attended to.—The chairman said the former had been passed for some lime, as had also Mystery Ore k road , in fact the last mentioned had been promised for years, and it must now be -lone. The approach to the bridge also needed attention.—The Chairman and Mr Gane will attend to these matters.— The Chairman said there was a part cf the Fuahr.e road that needed forming, from the. Moana Vale boundaiy to near Mr Bailey's house.That would connect the lot of good road lately made with the main roads of the tow nship.—lt was resolved to call tmders for this work returnable ou Saturday, 2nd November, and the work will Ic shown on Monday, the 28th, at 10 a.m. Mr Vesper was also asked to see that a bridge on this road had a hand-rail added to it, as an accident had lately happened there.—Mr Vo-per said that the Pnktkma road must be attended to, for it was lower in the centre than at the sides from Mr vSpubn.ok's to the Crow’s Nest, (here was a lot of traffic on it now.—Mr Gane said he wis glad to sec by the now Counties Bill, now before Parliament, tl a'- those living in outlying districts would be made lo contribute to the cost of the reads (bey used.—lt was arranged that the Chairman and Mr Vesper should inspect this road after the show at Hamilton
