The cream /carting contract, which includes the carriage of cream from the Harapipi, Whatawhata, and Te Kowhai creameries to the New Zealand Dairy Association has been secured by Messrs Laxon and Rothwell, the price being 16s 6d per day, Mr W. Rue, the new proprietor of mtr local hostelry, has taken over possession, and will be pleased to meet his old friends and the public generally at his well-appointed house. Being on the line of road from Hamilton to Raglan and the West Coast our Whatawhata Hotel comes in for a good share of patronage, and being in such experienced hands, visitors and travellers calling in will certainly find nothing left undone to make them comfortable. Mr Rae’s advertisement will appear shortly. Mr A. M. Ferguson has leased his farm, or, rather, that portion of U referred to in recent advertisements in the Argus, to Mr Frank Rothwell, at a satisfactory figure. Mr Ferguson, with his mother and family, will still live on tite place, and Mr Rothwell intends going in largely for the milk business, for which the farm is well suited, the local creamery being situated on it. Very general regret was expressed by the residents in our district at the sad death of Mr Tom Kirk. Most people on the Waipa, who did business in Hamilton, Knew 1 Tom,’ and, with his particularly pleasant manner, to know him was to like him.
