HUNTLY.
Miners' Union.—At a meetiog of the Miners' Union last night, delegates were appointed to confer with the directors of the Taupiri Coal Mining Company anent the proposed alterations in the miners' labour.
Accident. On Sunday an accident occurred in the Taupiri Gorge. It appears that two horsemen were gallopiug round the bend entering the Gorge, when one of them collided with a buggy. driven by Mr.C. Lovell, of Taupiri. The vehicle was so damaged as to necessitate its being left at the roadside. It is probable that a court case will result from the incident.
Native Festivities. The Waahi Maoris are still much in evidence. A tangi or two, visitors from Kaipara and other parts being causes for much feasting, band playing and general jubilation. Thursday last was the anniversary of Mahnta's coronation day and to-day Te Whero Whero and a number of Maoris arrived from Taranaki Dancea in both Maori and pakeha styles have been in plenty. Among the visitors are a band of advocatee of the .so-called •* new religion," which appears to be a mixture of Hauhanism and Christianity. —(Own Correspondent).
