A COAL STACK ON FIRE. Sydney, January 18
A stack of coal at Neutral Bay, containing two thousand tons, belonging to the Union Company, is on tire. It had apparently been smouldering several days.
WORK AND WAGES. Sydney, January 18.
The Builders' and Contractors' Association has agreed to fix the standard wage for average carpenters at nine shillings per day. A few men receiving below this rate have gone on strike.
