ROTORUA RACES. (BY TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Rotokua, Last Might. The annual meeting of the Rotorua Jockey Club was held to-day. The weather was splendid aud the attendance large. The fields were small, but the racing interesting, the course being in good order. A band wa3 in attendance, and the meeting passed without a hitch. The following are the results : Hurdles. Catchem 1 Bellman 2 Stella also started, but baulked. The winner led all the way, and won by ten lengths. Dividend, £1 13s. Maiden. Cavalier 1 Snider 2 Knapsack ~ 3 Mountain Deer and Lady also ran. Snider made the running, but Cavalier came through at the finish and won comfortably by a length. Dividend, lGs. Pont Race. Winnie 1 Rangiuru 2 Only the two started Winnie led all the way and won by two lengths. Dividend, 18s. Rotoeoa Cop. Admiral Hawko 1 Merry Maid 2 Cavalier ... 3 Knight of Athol, Winnie and La Grippe also started. When the flag fell La Grippe jumped away with the lead, closely followed by "Knight of Athol and Winnie. This order was maintained for the first time padt the stand. At the back of the course Cavalier moved into second place, and at the bend into the straight Admiral Hawke and Merry Maid put in their claim, and, coming through their field in fine style, au interesting battle ensued all the way home, but Admiral Hawke lasted long enough to win by a bare head, with Cavalier a good third, Dividend, 225. Maori Race. Mohaka 1 Rotomahana ... 3 This race caused a uood deal of excitement, amongst the Maoris. Raukura was thought to have a great chance of annexing the prize, but the winner turned up in Mohaka, who won easily by three lengths. Dividend, £3 13s. Flying Starti. La Grippe ... ... ... 1 Admiral Hawke 2 Rangiuru 3 La Grippe obtained a slight advantage at the start, which he maintained throughout, winning rather easily by half-a-leugth. Dividend, £3 2s. District Race. Catchem ... ... ... 1 Rank ura 2 Mountain Deer 3
