HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The usual monthly meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council was held at the Council Chambers, Hamilton,, last evening. There were present:—His Worship the Mayor, Mr \Vm. Dey (in the chair), and Crs D. Salmon, Chas. Tippin, R. J. Gwynne, Win. Crawford, S. Davis, Thos. Slade and R. F. Sandes. SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting was held for the purpose of appointing a day in each week on which the half-holiday should be held and passing the by-laws recently framed and passed at the last meeting.— Cr. Salmon proposed that Wednesday should be the day for the half-holiday, as it had worked well in the past and appeared to meet the wish of the majority of the business people.—Cr. Gwynne seconded.—Carried.

By-laws.—The borough by-laws as read at the last meeting were presented by the Clerk, and on the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Cr. Tippin, were passed unanimously. ORDINARY MEETING. A Misnomer -Cr Gwynne introduced the question of railway station, and said he considered u was a misnomer to call the Hamilton East station by that name. It was, he said, outside the Borough, and led to confusiou. He proposed that the railway authorities should be approached to alter the Hamilton East station to Claudelands, and the Hamilton West station to Hamilton.— Cr. Salmon seconded. Cr. Tippin opposed the motion. He thought tho names had answered very well for a number of years, and there was no occasion for ch.iu^ing.—On the motion beiog put, it was carried, Crs. Tippin, Slade und Crawford dissenting. Pound. —Cr. Tippiu suggested several necessary improvements to the Hamilton Pound.—Agreed to. Accounts. —The following accounts were passed for' payment:—Jas. Devitt, £2 9s Gd ; Parr Bros., 6s 5d ; P. Munro, 7s ; W. Andrews, 9s ; T. W. Maunder, £2 3* ; Bank of New Zealand, £23 ; Macky, £SO ; Gas Company, £5 ss. DOMAIN BOARD. At the annual meeting of the Hamilton Domain Board held immediately afterwards, the same members were present. Chairman.—Mr. Tippen proposed that Mr \V. Dey should be chairman for the ensuing year.—Mr. Sandes seconded.— Carried. Account.—The only other business was the passing of an account from Mr A. Swarbrick for £2 12s 6d.
