TASMANIA WANTS AUSTRIANS.
(BY TEL GBAPH.— PBESS ASSOCIATION). Auckland, Last Night. The Austrian Consul has received a cablegram from Tasmania offering employment to several hundred pick a n d shovel men on the railway construction at 7s 6d per day. The Consul states if he can induce the Austrians to go to Tasmania on thos-J terms, he will send the whole batch away. They would be far better off than they would be hero at £1 a week, and would do away with the friction with the labour people. The Consul will accordingly try to persuade the Austrians to accept the Tasmanian offer.
