(BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION). "Wellington, Last Night. At a meeting of the creditors of a bankrupt grocer to-day, a resolution was passed requesting the Assignee to make representations to the Government of the frequency with which transfers of property are made to wives for the purpose of "defrauding creditors, and asking for au amendment of the Bankruptcy Act to prevent the practice. In this particular case the Assignee said the wife seemed to have a nice little stock of goods of Iter own, and that he intended to examine her about them. The debtor was unable to give any satisfactory explanation. One of the creditors said it would give him great pleasure to assist in sending him to gaol. The Assignee said it was an unsatisfactory bankruptcy, for no books had bceu kept. It was decided to have a public examination.
