SCHOLARSHIP EXAMINATIONS.

In the scholarship examinations, held last month, the following successes were gained by Waikato competitors : Senior scholarships (maximum marks 4900).—James D. Dinneeu, Auckland College and Grammar School, 3168, 2nd ; Edward A. Cox,-Kings College, 3027, 4th.

Junior scholarship (maximum marks 900), Class A, value £ls a year and tenable tor three years; available for pupils of public primary schools having an average attendance from 100 to 300 inclusive. —Glawdys Kirkham, Te Awamutu. 557, 4th. Certificates of pruficiency were also awarded to William J. MclSicol, Ohaupo, who was 26'h with 534 marks ; and Sinclair M. AVallaee, Wairargi, who was 47th with 407 marks.

One point that will be especially pleasing to the parents of the children attending the Hamilton West School is the success gained by the candidat?s prepared by Mr E. O. Purdic, who has been reccutly appoint to the Hamilton School, while in charge at Bombay. Four candidates were presented in Class B, under which the Bombay pohool was placed, aud of these, two (Jessie C. Wooton aud Jno. Masefield) secured scholarships, being placed 2nd and 3rd with 031 and 599 marks respectively. The other two candidates (Robert 0. Potter and Ethel M. Shanalnn) were awarded certificates ot proficiency, occupying the 11th and 12th places wi h 554 aud 552 marks respectively. We congratulate Mr Purdie on the achievements of his candidates, and hope that he may next year add still further to his successos.
