THE Italian Chamber by 172 to 43 rejected a proposal to abandon the Erylhrea colony on the Red Sea littoral. One deputy stated in the Chamber that a treaty existed between Italy and England to maintain the status quo in regard to the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, and the hinterlands of Tripoli and Raheita. The Government allowed the statement to pass in silence.
