(BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION). CiiRiSTCHaBCH, Last Night. The Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association has purchased a site, consisting of two acres, in a central position, for the erection of an Industrial Hall in Christehurch. The estimated cost of land and buildings is £20.000. Mabton, Last Night. The Advocate office and two buildings adjoining, were totally destroyed by fire last night. The fire originated in an upstairs room of the Advocate office, aud spread to Laiug's shop and dwelling house on the one side and Bishop's office on the other. The Advocate machine room, which is built; of brick, resisted the fire. The Advocate loss amounts to about £BOO on the tjpe and stock, which were insured in the New Zealand office for £l5O ; Laing's insurance amounts to £350. The Advocate office, which was valued at £SOO, was insured for £2OO in the Standard, aud £l5O in the New Zealand offices. The Advocate will be brought out to-day, sufficient type bavin? been saved, with the help of the Fielding office of the paper, to go on with.
