MERGER REGATTA.
Thk Mercer Regatta, which is to be held on Saturday, November 26th, promisos to be a great success. The Aucklaud Rowing Clubs have crews in active training for the gig races, and, as this will be the first regatta in Auckland at which clinker outriggers will be used, a fine displ&y of rowing may be looked forward to. The Maoris are taking a very active, interest, and are buildiug several new canoes to compete in the Maori events. King Mahnta's beautiful war canoe " Taheretikitiki" will be on exhibition, and will appear in her full " war paint." His Excellency the Governor, Lady Ranfurly and suite will be present, and no doubt some thousands will avail themselves of the cheap fares and fast excursion trains. The sports will commence at 11.15 and terminate at 5.15, during which time many interesting items will eventuate. Entries are pouring in for all the races, so that, with a fine day, we feel assurpd that those who visit Mercer on the 26th will enjoy a good day's sporr.
