(BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION). Wellington, Last Night. The Agricultural Department finds it is quite unable to cope with the demand for sittings of eggs from the poultry establishments. The Department intend to breed largely during the Dext few months, and it hopes next year to be able to supply all the eggs that are wanted. Mr Ruddick, of Canada, who has been appointed Chief Dairy Expert in New Zealand, will not arrive in the colony until the end of the year. He is to visit London before he takes up his new duties, to inspect the first shipment of butter of this season when it arrives at Home. During the time he is in London, he will enquire into various matters affecting his department. Napier, Last Night. A fire at Hastings destroyed a block of four shops, three being owned by J. Garnctt, builder, one of which he occupied himself), and the others by Robertson (watchmaker), Kershaw (cabinetmaker). The fourth was owued and occupied by Wyatt (butcher). Garnett's buildings were insured for £7OO, and Wyatt's for £OSO. Marton, Last Night. F. J. Roe was found dead in a ditch by the main road at Ohingaiti yesterday. He was subject to fits.
