CHURCH CONGRESS.
(BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH—COPSRIGH.T). London, September 29. GREAT interest is being manifested in the Church Congress now sitting at Bradford. The Bight Rev. Dr. Boyd Carpenter. Bishop of Ripon, who presided, declared that the extremists were not wanted in the Church. The religion of the future would be neither Protestant nor Catholic, but simply Christian. The Most Bev. Dr. MacLagan, Archbishop of York, suggasted the appointment of a committee of experts to deal with the Church service. The Most Bev. Dr. Temple, Archbishop of Canterbury, said it was necessary to take some measures to stop much of what was going on, but he thought it was better to leave the bishops to act quietly. Mr Kensit, who recently played a prominent part in the anti- ritualistic cruse de, spoke, but was greatly interrupted. Viscount Halifax, President of the English Church Union, urged a conference of High and Low Church authorities to settle burning questions.
