(BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION). Wellington, Last Night. Mr A. T. Riddick. who is in charge of the school at Kingstown, Ontario, Canada, has been appointed chief dairy expert for New Zealand. He will leave for Wellington almost immediately.

Patea, Last Night

A fire this morning destroyed a large block of buildings belonging to MeKenna, which was one of the lavcest buildings in the town Mid with the heaviest stock. The fire was confined by K.e brigade to one portion of the building, but the stock and furniture were practically destroyed. The insurances were £1750 on building, stock and furniture. McKenna will be a very heavy loser.
