WOMEN DOCTORS FOR WOMEN.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—lt is very sad that so many young wives are dying through being confined. I do not believe it is the proper function for any man to deliver a woman, and many of us husbands would rather call in the devil than a man doctor to deliver his wife. Some fourteen years ago I called in a man doctor (curse him) to deliver my wife, and, although a man of thirty, I was quite ignorant of what was done by these men at such times (I thought the nurse did everything). When I found out what was done I could have killed the man. Since that time there have been twenty children born to various members of my family (all well and hearty to-day). A man doctor has never been allowed near apy of the confinements since my_ child was born, fourteen years ago. It is most unnatural to call in & man to deliver our wives, and I know that many of us husbands suffer very much when_ a man doctor is called in to examine his wife. I do hope that some of the young girls growing up in Waikato will become doctors. I am sure there is a great future before them.—l am, etc., An Indignant Husband and Father.
