MYSTERIOUS DROWNING ACCIDENT.

(BY TELEGRAPH.—PBESS ASSOCIATION). Acckland, Last Night. With reference to the reported drowning of an elderly man at the Huatoki river, New Plymouth, with papers found on the body with the name \Y. Cruickshank, Strathmore, and Auckland Savings Bank notices, Mr Ferguson, Labour Bureau agent, states that he gave a passage guaranteed by a citizen for repayment to W. Cruickshank, carpenter, address: McLean's Strathmore boardinghouse. Cruickshank stated he was married. He was 57 years of r.ge. had a family of lour, and had been working at the Exhibition buildings, but had been out of work two weeks. He came from Wanganni, and said he could get work at New Plymouth. He got his ticket at the Labour Bureau on the loth July. Mr Furguson supposed the man drowned to be the man he knew.
