THE COUNTY COUNCIL CONFERENCE.
(BY TELEGRAM.—PRESS ASSOCIATION). NYellixoton, Last Night. Tuiv County Council Conference passed the following resolutions : " That, in order to provide the portion of revenue necessary for the purposes of hospital and charitable aid, the Government should introduce legislation abolishing the £IOO exemption under the Income Tax." " That the recommendations of tlie Agricultural Conference at Christchurch on the Rabbit Act be endorsed."
" That a deputation wait upon the Minister of Lands and point out the injustice done to local bodies through being compelled to accept the Government valuations, instead of being allowed to make their own valuations ; and also to point out the excessive cost of Government valuations as compared with the last valuation made by the local bodies, and to request him to reduce the charges or give the local bodies time in which to pay them."
A letter was read from the New Zealand Cyclists' Touring Club, inclosing a copy of its riding regulations, suggesting that they be regarded as a model for bylaws, and also stating its willingness to provide danger boards and finger plates if the various Councils will erect and maintain the same.—lt was decided that application should be made to individual County Councils. The Conference is now closed, and the various resolutions passed are to be forwarded to the Premier.
