THE ISLAND EXCURSION.
. A PLEASANT TRIP. (BY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION). Auckland, Last Night. The Waikare returned this morning from her Island cruise, for which she had fine v. eather. The Waikare leaves for Wellington to-morrow with the Southern contingent of passengers, and thence for Sydney, taking up her running again. Mr Mills, Managing Director of the Union Steamship Company, goes by the Takapuna on Monday to Wellington. A presentation, to be executed in Sydney, is to be made to Capt. Richardson by the passengers of the Waikare. They also gave a farewell supper to Mr Milh on the last night of the voyage, when the health of Mr and Mrs Mills was drunk. The Waikare made a record trip of 3 days 14i hours from Tonga against a heavy head swell.
