The Tailoresses' Union has decided not to accept the log drawn up by the Conciliation Board, and will carry the case to the Arbitration Court. At a meeting of the Wellington Branch of the New Zealand Veterans' Association, Mr Tregear said it had been found impossible to extend the organisation to Auckland. Mr Hornby, late editor] of the New Zealand Times, has purchased a Wairarapn paper. In ifspon?c to largo promises of support, he declares his intention of opposing Mr Buchanan, the present representative of the district in the House, at the next general election. The Premier will visit Wanganui shortly. The appointment of Mr Justice Peunefather was confirmed at an Executive meeting held this morning. The Government have decided to erect a new dormitory to the Porirua asylum at a cost of £IOOO In consequence of the recommendation to mercy of the Maori murderer Euoka, the Government intend to gee a report from Mr Justice Conuolly before coming to a decision. Four men went outside the Heads in a yacht yesterday. Two of them, brothers, named Emery, put off in a dingy from the yacht, which they left at anchor. The other two men subsequently returned to port in the yacht, saying that the Emerys had disappeared, though the weather and sea were remarkably fine. A party left in search this morniug, and the latest information is that both the Emerys were drowned, and their bodies are on the way to the morgue. The body of a much-decomposed man, whose name from papers in his pocket is believed to be Vannicliffe, was found in the domain.
