ADVANCES TO SETTLERS.
CHARGES OF OVER VALUATION. (UY TELEGRAPH—OWN COBRESPOSDENT). Wellington, Last Night. Referring to a case of alleged over valuation by the Advances to Settlers department in the Waitotara district, it is stated that the advance was made ou information given by the general board to the effect that the security offered for a loan of £IBOO was valued by the local valuer at £3120, a previous valuation by a leading business tinn tains; £'2600. The valuer's report to the Board showed that an actual sale was in progress for £3OOO. The Board is now negotiating for the sale of the security, and anticipate do loss.
