THE GOVERNMENT POLICY.

The Premier has been interviewed by a representative of the Lytteltou Times, and he has favoured him with a sketch of his proposed policy. He purposes asking a loan of £2,000,000, which he proposes to allocate as follows : —North Island Trunk Railway, £750,000 ; Otago Central Radway, £500,000; Midland Railway, £500,000 ; Irrigation Works in Canterbury, £-200,000. "He intends to introduce the Old Age Pensions Bill immediately Parliament meet*, and is prepared to" go to the country upon it, aud if the Upper House obstructs it he adds " it wid bo time to consider who is to be master He will iutroduce the Masters and Apprentices Bill, and if this is obstructed he will be obliged to consider the position. He will introduce the Eight Hours Bill, but this he proposes to make a declaratory measure applicable to mines and factories.
