EXPLORING EXPEDITION.

LONDON, February 25. At a meeting of the Royal Society, Mr John Murray, F.R.S., read a paper advocating a naval exploring expedition to the Antarctic. Sir Joseph Hooker suggested that a captive balloon would facilitate land exploration. Nanseu concurred in th 9 suggestion. He also made light of the dangers of the ice, which he thought considerably les3 broken than in the Arctic Seas. He was convinced that Norway would co-operate in the expedition. The Duke of Argyll, Admiral Markbam, and other eminent public scientific men also advocated the expedition.
