TROUBLE IN INDIA.
Calcutta, January 6. Two columns of troops, under Briga-•dier-General Sir Binelon Blood, have •started on a punitive expedition against recalcitrant Bonorwal tribesimen. They aro forcing the Tonga, Aiubeyla and Malandri passes. Major D. W. Hichmaa, wing inlander of the 34th Bengal Infantry, v?as killed at Lundi Kotal while protecting with the troops under his command a convoy proceeding to the fort. Tho death is announced at Peshawar of Brigadier-General Biggs, who recently was invalided from tho frontier campaign. Deceased figured gallantly in tho recent actions during the north-western struggles, and tho hardships whish he then underwent, and at the Tirah Pass engagement, brought on dysentery, to which he succumbed.
