ENGINEERS' STRIKE.

London, Jununry 6. Tiie annual conference of the Miners' Federation of Great Britain opened to-day. British delegates representing 407,500 miners were present. Mr B. Pickard, M.P., President of tbo Federation, presided. In his opening speech, Ihe President said the engineers' Strike showed that it was useless to attempt to obtain an eight hours' system while they wore in conflict with tho employers. Mr C. Havelock "Wilson, member for Middlesborough, and member of the Parliamentary Commission and Trades Union Congress, reports that he has realised £40,000 in America on behalf of the Engineers' Strike Fund.
Tho Employers' Federation deny tho statement that firms were leaving the combination. Messrs Sims and Co. have declared that they have no intention to recede from the terms agreed upon. The Miners' Conference resolved to press for the establishment of an eight hours' system.
