DESTRUCTIVE FIRE IN AUCKLAND.

Shortly after 0 o'clock on Saturday night what proved to he a destructive fire broke out in Custom street West in the premises of Mr Anton Scholium, coal, firewood, and general produce dealer. The premises are those formerly occupied by the Shortlaud Sawmill Company. The tire brigade was soon on the spot, but notwithstanding their exertions the flames spread rapidly to Messrs Henderson and Spraggon's- premises, which were destroyed with their contents. Mr Scholium's loss is about £3OO ; there were no insurances. Messrs Henderson and Spraggon were insured for £IOO. The cutter Rose Blanche and the schooner Saxon were in their slips and were badly, damaged. The origin of the fire is unknown.
