A DROWNING ACCIDENT.
(BY TELEGRAI'II. OWN correspondent). Collingwood, Last Night. Edward Solly, aged 28, a waggoner to G. W. Riley, was drowned this morning while crossing the Aorere River, which was in flood. Six horses were also drowned.
Another waggoner named Brown had a narrow escape, but his horses just managed to swim across. Solly's parents live at Takaka. Owing to the discoloured state of the river the body has not yet been recovered.
