PIRONGIA
SI'OKTS. —In my notice of the Waipa Amateur Athletic Club's sports, held here, on the 19th April, and published in The Waikato Abgi'S, the valuable sendees of the timekeepsr, Mr H. 11. Howden, of Hamilton, were omitted in the repot t. That gentleman had two time pieces on the ground, which he manipulated, so that the time takeu for each event was absolutely correct. Bukns. The settlers at Rau-a-Moa were not fortunate in getting a good burn of their clearings this season, which h a great misfortune for them. Those also at Te Tahi arc out of luck, as no wind as yet has been suitable to fire their clearings, and it is uow too late to do so with any chance of a successful clearance.
Co-oruuATivE Stoke.—The native cooperative store at Whatiwhatihoe was opened some three months since, with a small capital of one pound per share. The .shareholders (all present) held a meeting to take stock and examine the accounts of the company. The result was the declaration of a dividend of six shillings and two pence for each one pound share for the three mouths. Not such bad business, although the dividend is not half that paid by the Kopua store. Another store has been started by the natives at Otorohanga on the same lines. —(OwnCorrcspoudent).
