CAMBRIDGE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

Tkk alove committee met yesterday nit rning at 0.80. There were present : Messrs F. J. Brooks (ohivrmau), A. Bach, T. Wells and Jas. Hally. Attendance. —The master reported several children who had not attended the r, quired number of times, so that the parents could be prosecuted.—This matter was re'egated to the in-timing committee, as was also the ejucs'.ion of erecting new swings, etc. Ui'l'AiK.s.—The Board of Education wro'e stating it would pay for some miner repairs to the teacher's residence, but it refused to pay for painting the school ft nee. Tiik Meeting op Houseiiolueus.— The Board advised the committee that the annual meeting of householders would be held in the Pubic Hall on Monday next, at 7.50 p.m. —Mr Wells saiil the hall had been engaged that evening for a concert. —The matter fi'as locked into and it was found there were many difficulties in the way of petting it adjourned to another place, eo it was dieidul to adjourn the concert till the meeting is over. Nominations.—The Chairman reported that he had received four nominations for election, viz., Mr J. Howe, nominated by Mr Neal ; Mr 0 Toole, by Mr Peck ; Mr Peek, by Mr Bout ; and Mr Rout, by Mr Bond, Assistant Thaciiek. The Board notilied the comnvttce that Miss B. Carnachan had been removed from the school, and submitted the name of Miss Reynolds for appointment.—This was the only name submitted, and the matte." was deferred for the new committee to deal with.—The Chairman said he understood Miss Selby, of Hautapu, would probah'y apply for the appointment. Miss Carnachan wrole resigning her office as assistant teacher, and thanking the Committee for the treatment she had rcc ived at their hands.— The numbers spoke io the highest terms of the manner in which Miss Carnachan had conducted herself during her lengthened period as scholar- and teacher, and it was proposed by Mr Wells, seconded by Mr Hally, and unanimously agreed to : "That in view of Miss Carnachan's departure after many years' connection with the school as scholar ami teacher, the Committee, while sorry to lose Miss Carnachan's services, unanimous'}' approve of her well-deserved promotion, and testify to their very high appreciation of her abilities as a teacher' Bird the satisfao'cry manner in which she has discharged her duties dining the whole term, and of Ihe respect they entertain for her excellent character'." rSitOKKN Winpows.— The Chairman said there had teen many wirrdows in the school broken, and he thought it must be the result of carelessness. — It was resolved to make the culprits pay lor the damage if p-s.-ble. Tin. Rm'OßT. The Chairman read a draft report l.c had prepared to le submitted to the meeting of householders, and it was adopted. Tiik Kxouumox —The Chairman said lie l.ad received < ilicial intimatictl that a school excursion fain Auckland would run on Friday (to-morrow). He hoped everyone would help to make the trip a pleasant one for the visiting children.
