CAMBRIDGE CHRYSANTHEMUM SHOW.

The arrargements for this show arc progressing in a most satisfactory manner, and geioel as the previous shows have been, the one about to be held bids failto edip;c its forerunners. The number of specimen blooms entered for exhibition exceeds 1500. This is the 1 irgest number ever yet entered at Cambridge, and we should not le surprised if it put* up a record for the colony, lor the number exhibited at the late Auekland Show was just the level 1500. The competition wid be keen in nearly every chits, and one that will attiact much attention will le that for l.utton-hole sprays, for which no less than Hi have entered. The young peopled cntihs are much larger lhau usual, in fact are double • hoe of last year. It is very gratifying to fiuel the juveniles taking increased interest in the cultivation of this love'y class of flowers. The chrysanthemum growers are looking forward with considerable interest to the contest between cur Waikato champion, Mr T. Wells, and the hero of the Auckland Show, Mr Taylor, who almo.t swept the boaiel at the city exhibition. The Cantabs back their President, but the odds are not very long ones, as they know Mr Taylor is a " warrior bold," but he has to reckon with the railway journey, which is a big handicap. Given line weather the show will undoubtedly he a gigantic success. The railway authorities are running a school excursion from Auckland tomorrow, the prices being for childien une'er 15 2s, over that age and teachers 4s, and aeltilts 5s 3d, for the return journey. To-morrow being St. Geoigu's l)iy, there will sure to be a number of visitors from Auck'aml. We have hern asked to notify exhibitors that they must get the bu'k of their exhibits staged this, evening, as the judges will commence their duties piomp'ly a» 10 a.m. te;morrow morning. The show will beopen to tiie public as soon as the judging is completed, but it \sil be oflicially declared open at 2 p.m. by Mr W. 11. Herrios, M.H.R. The orchestra will discourse sweet music during the afternoon and evening, and we need orly state that Mcssis Edwards, Ward, Wallett and T. Adams, of Auckland, will be playing to ceinviiice intending visitors that the mus : c will be Al. 4he Society are issuing season tickets at 2s (3d, which will he a loi nto those who intend visiting the .-how en both days, both afternoon and evening.
