—♦ — (BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.) "Wellixcton, Last Night. The body of a man named Joseph Guilford, alias Thos. Kelly, about 33 years of ugc, supposed to be a labourer, was found floating off the wharf at 7 a.m. Nothing is known as to the cause of his death. A motion has been filed to remove the petition against Mr Buchanan's return from the list, on the ground that it was not lodged in time and that the security was not duly given as required by law. Win, Collier, aged 73, who has been nearly fifty years iu the colony, described as a strong and hale man, lias been missing from Bright's Mill, at Eketahuna, since the 7th. It was at first supposed that he had gone to visit his son at Otaki. Search parties have been out scouring the bush, but unsuccessfully. The bowlers were occupied to-day with the North v. .South Island match, six rinks aside, which was won by the former with 123 against 101. Great interest centred in the match. The North Island team led throughout ; their chief advantage being in the rink skipped by Mr Sample, of Wellington, against Mr Hutchison, of Blenheim, which resulted 32 to S. Ciikistchukcu, Last Night. At the meeting of local bodies to fix a day for the statutory half holiday, only the Uity Council was represented. It was resolved to fix Thursday. The other local bodies refused to send delegates, as the voting power of the City Council was so much in preponderance.
