—«.— New York, January 27. The steamer Australia, which has arrived at San Francisco from Honolulu, reports that the s.s. Taupo signalled the Swanhilda that Butler was aboard. In anticipation of the arrival of the Swanhilda, the detectives are cruising off the Golden Gate. Sydney, January 2S. With reference to the above cable message, the Sydney Morning Herald suggests that, a passing vessel has been informed by the captain of the Swanhildct, that he had Butler iu irons, as the result of information given him by the captain of the s.s. Tanpo. The jury returned a verdict that Burgess was wilfully murdered by Butler.
