Coxsidueino the near approach of the Christmas holidays the demand for mining stocks is well nia : nhiiued and compares favourably with the state of the market for t'.e last two yeats at this da'e. There was a decidtd'y Jimpi».'td demand for Thames stocks to-day, hut transactions were not numerous, as sellers are not eaEcr to accept the prices ottered. There was a better inquiry for Hxuraki North thares owing to a better report from the mine. Bunker's Hill shares were a shade firmer, and several lines of Waihi Souths changed hands at Is 8(1, the market closing steady with buying at Is 7d. Many cheaper stocks were in demand.
