CYCLING CONTESTS.

THE SEAMY SIDE. New York, December 14. Hales, the cycling representative of the New York Herald, has ridden 1911 miles in 142 hours, which beats the previous record of the world. In the long distance cyclists' tournament, won by Hales, many of the competitors suffered from remarkable prostration.
