THE WAIKATO AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOC/A TION'S SHOW.
Dubixm llio past two days the finishing touches have been put on the show grounds, ami the arrangements for today and to-morrow are as complete us possible, and nothing rcmaius to he done this morning but yard the exhibits, and the judging will commence at half-past ten. The following gentlemen who will -act as judges have all arrived and are staying with the other officials at the Hamilton Hotel. The judges for the various classes arc : iionsiJS. Thoroughbred, roads'cr and carriage horses: Mr Alex. Ilipgio, Waiigunui. rniughts : Mr J. D. Mitchell, Mana'a. leaping matches : Messrs Alex. UL'gie and J. I). .Mitchell. CATTLK. Shorthorns, Hereford-), Polled Angus and other cattle : Mr John Winks, Normuiiliy. Jerseys oml dairy cattle : Mr Jno. McC'aw, Matamula. siiKicr. Lincoln, Leicester, and Romney Marsh: Mr R. B. Hamilton, Manutahi. Shropshire, Southdown, Half-bred Merino and other sheep: Mr Gilbert Wilson, Kaponga. Fat cattle, fat sheep, and pigs : Mr Jno. Fisher, Kihikihi. The work of judging will piveced througliout to-day, the classes being taken in the order as appealing in the catalogue, with the exception (f trotting horses, gill's and children's ponies and ladies' hacks, which will not he taken until half-past ten to morrow. Tigs also are not to bo yarded until half-past nnc on the second day. For tonu rrow the programme of events is : Judging of classes given above, 10.30 a.m. ; general parade, 1.30 p.m. ; leaping matches, 'J.3O p.m. ; weight-guessing, all day. The leaping matches will no doubt prove a great attraction, and this year a special feature has been introduced in the high. jump. The ladies' match will he the first coinpet ti n, and this will be followed by the boys, two claSfCSj viz., under \'2 yeirs and under 14 years, and then will conic the gentlemen's trials.
The exhibits of machinery, implements, .seeds, vehicles?, and other funning necessities, although not so numerous as last year, comprise sonic very interesting collections, all of which will be critically inspected l*y the visitors. The success of the Show now depends on the attendance, and if the weather keeps fine we may safely predict that it will bo the largest ever seen at ClaudeKinds.
