FOOTBALLERS' BALL
As we predicted, the ball given by the Hamilton Football Club in the Oddfel'ow's Hull on Tuesday evening was an exceedingly pleasant gathering and must be considered as highly successful. The company numbered about 70 couples, so that the hall was just comfortably tilled, and as the floor was in beautiful trim, ami the music of the best quality, it is almost superfluous to add that dancing ws quite a treat, and was entered into with great spirit. The decorations from the ball given a short time ago still remained, and the ferns and palms having been replaced, the effect was as pleasing as ever. The fancy dresses as a whole ■wire neither numerous nor particularly striking, but the pretty costume representing " Grandpa's Darling," worn by Miss J . Mclven/.ic suited her admirably and certainly deserves special mention. The music supplied by Mr J, Munro's band, consisting of Miss Misscn (violin), Mrs Kollinson (piano), Mr V. Munro (double bass), and Mr J. Munro (cornet), was all that could be desired, and the tlruiks of the dancers arc due to Misses Hill ami Deacon, who kindly contributed the extras. The supper was an excellent one, and as it was under the inadagement of Mr \V. F. Bell, little more need be. sail. During the evening, His Worsh'p the Mayor, Mr \V. Dey, presented the handsome gold and silver medals won in the recent load race to Messrs A. Ccatcs and F. Hobbs, who were the successful competitors.
