Power depot tenders called
Disposal of the old King Country Electric Power Board depot in Mangawhero Terrace, Ohakune was discussed at the last meeting of the board, with a decision to call for tenders for the land and buildings being made.
Board chairman Ken Street called afor discussion on the future of the depot considering the board's new depot was finished and soon to be occupied. The board heard that there were more than
40 chalets for sale in Ohakune as well as a number of industrial sites, making the present possibly a b a d time to look at selling the property. The general manager of the board M r Turnpage2
Tenders for depot
From page 1 Neville Sanders told the meeting that the land was zoned for power board use with an underlying zone of residential. He said this could mean the land would revert to residential zoned once the board ceased to operate it as a depot. Waimarino board member Ian Strachan said he regarded the site as a prime location in the town. Ari alternative t o disposing of the land immediately would be to hold onto the property until the market improved, suggested the chairman. Other . suggestions were to lease or auction the property or place it in the hands of a real estate agent. The general manager reminded the board that they would not b e obliged to sell the property if the tenders received did not "come up to the mark".
