RUATITI COMMITTEE SOON TO BE SET UP
Councillor Dave Griffiths told last week's full Waimarino District Council meeting that he and Cr Jeremy Trebilcock had five or six names of people who would be willing to serve on a Ruatiti Domain management committee. He said a committee would be formed "within the next week or two". The Department of Conservation has requested the management of the domain be looked at and a plan be worked out in time for this summer's influx of visitors. They have offered assistance in developing a management plan. A DoC officer told the Bulletin there have been up to 400 campers at the domain during the summer holidays and that it needed careful management to reduce the pressure on the facilities there.
