Water test
Ohakune Volunteer Fire Brigade members are to test the Ohakune Water Supply capacity this Sunday. The test will involve opening all the town's flushing valves to draw the largest amount of water p o s s i b 1 e , bypassing the supply's pressure reducing valve, and measuring the amount of flow in the system mains. This will in effect stretch the supply t o the limit, with the aim of finding out t h e maximum capacity of the system which until now has only been estimated. The results of the test may help the council decide whether Stage One of planned water treatment system can be built or whether stages one and two need to be built concurrently. The test is planned for Sunday morning and, while some people may experience a drop in water pressure, the supply will not be cut off, say council staff.
