GROWERS GIVE MONEY FOR CARROT UPKEEP
Waimarino Vegetable growers have given the District Council $500 for maintenance of the giant carrot and site. Cr Peggy Frew informed the District Council that the money had been received and that it was only to be used for maintenance of the carrot and site. Cr Errol Sue told council the money was the proceeds from advertising at the site and was not a donation. District Manager John Murrihy told the council, when asked, that the $500 was the first monies received from the advertising.
