College takes Celtic

Ruapehu College won against Celtic on Sunday, a side they lost to only two weeks ago. It was an unusual game involving three penalties and 13 goals. Ruapehu opened the scoring after only one minute with Brendan Gammeter converting from the penalty spot. The College side went three up shortly after but Celtic determination pulled back two goals for a score of 3:2 to Ruapehu at halftime. The score could easily have been 4:3 at the

interval, but both sides missed from the spot due to excellent saves by the keepers. In the second half Ruapehu were under continuous pressure, and looked to be beaten heavily when Celtic equalised and then after 75 minutes went up by 6 goals to 3. It was grit and determination which helped Ruapehu, the home side, make a comeback of 4 goals in the last 15 minutes. The College side eventually won by 7 goals to 6. The Ruapehu scorers were Jason Langdon

(2), John Laurenson (2), Junior Kaata (1), Brendan Gammeter (1) and Mathew Mowat (1).
