LIQUOR LICENCE ON HOLD

Pipers Kings Court has until September 20 to abide by the rules of the granting of their liquor licence. The application for renewal of the licence was not accepted at the annual meeting of the Wanganui Licensing Committee, but adjourned until September. Objections from the Fire Service were the cause of the adjournment. Staff being accommodated on the first floor of the premises was one of the reasons for the objections, while the licence had been granted on the condition staff not be accommodated on the first floor. Also, the lodge's fire alarm and emergency lighting failed to operate when tested, according to Taihape District Court Staff. Pipers Kings Court can still operate from the premises but the conditions must be met for the licence to be renewed in September, said a court staff member.
