AUCKLAND WOMAN JUMPS OFF MT NGAURUHOE

News of the April parapenting exploits of an Oudoor Pursuits Centre instructor from Auckland has finally leaked out. Bev Smith climbed Mount Ngauruhoe early one April morning to jump off the top of the volcanic cone harnessed to a parachute. The parapenting flight lasted six minutes from the 7.30am take off in perfect conditions and ended at the Mangatepopo hut. Parapenting involves running off the tops of high places with a sports parachute ali;eady deployed, billowing behind the jumper. Outdoor Pursuits Centre folk believe the jump is a first for Ngauruhoe.
